THE IDEA / Code Morse: 7493

A color-vision test cannot tell the clinician much if the child cannot follow the task or loses interest. One large preschool study found only 17% of children aged 30–36 months could complete its protocol.

Shape Match replaces number reporting with finding shapes. Repeated play records responses, while clinicians can adjust shapes, colors, sizes and contrast. The team’s goal is to make toddlers easier to assess; the prototype has not established diagnostic accuracy or superiority to existing tests.
