Rehabilitation & movement

Mirror Bit

A limb can keep hurting after amputation. A webcam tracks the intact hand while a mirrored hand plays the rhythm game, giving phantom-limb movement practice a reason to repeat.

THE IDEA / MirrorBeat

Mirror therapy and motor imagery use visual feedback and attempted or imagined movement of the missing limb. The game-design challenge is to give that practice more variety.

Mirror Bit turns gestures into rhythm-game controls. A camera tracks one hand and the mirrored representation plays for the missing side. It explores accessible practice with a laptop and webcam, without establishing a pain-treatment benefit from the game itself.
